Welcome Liam Kafka-Sweeney – Senior Head Coach Season 2024

The Board of Alamein FC is pleased to announce Liam Kafka-Sweeney as our Senior Head Coach for Season 2024.

Having spent last season in the Senior Assistant role, Liam brings continuity and a strong understanding of the Alamein FC culture as we look to maintain the forward momentum of our Seniors program.

In addition to coaching our more experienced players, Liam is looking forward to developing our promising young players. “We have some real talent at the Club throughout our junior levels. It has been great to see some of these players train amongst the U20s and Seniors, and the potential impact they will have on our Senior squad in the years to come’, said Liam.

Liam has completed his university studies in Sport Science and Coaching, and is currently completing his FA B Diploma. His background includes positions in Football Victoria’s SAP and TIDC programs.

“We congratulate Liam on his appointment and are very pleased he has stepped into the Senior Head Coach role in what will be our 10-Year Anniversary. He enjoys a great rapport with our players, has a strong work ethic and a valued collaborative approach. We very much look forward to continue working with Liam and supporting him on his coaching career,” said Alamein FC President Kathy Stamatopoulos.

“We also wish to thank our outgoing Head Coach Keanu Giummarra for his contribution and our strong ’23 campaign, where we finished just outside the top four. We wish Keanu all the very best as he leaves to pursue an opportunity overseas,” added Kathy.
